Hunter Garrison
Ministry Resident at Redeemer Round Rock
Welcome to my giving page! The next couple paragraphs are my testimony and the ways that God has been moving in my life.
I grew up in the church and accepted Christ at a young age. Young enough to not truly know what it meant to be a Christ-follower. Being stagnate in my faith and extremely lukewarm I eventually got caught up in worldly things towards the end of high school and most of college…fully knowing what I was getting into and disregarding my faith, but still at the same time going to church and praying every night when I went to bed.
This cycle of doing what I knew was wrong and pursuing what I thought was giving me “life” and “purpose” lasted until my senior year at Hardin Simmons. A month into grad school (September 2020) the Lord got a hold of my heart and I decided that He would be in total control of my life. At the time I didn’t know truly what this meant or how my life was going to change.
In March of 2021, I had a meeting with the college pastor at a church called “The Well” in Abilene. During this meeting, I expressed that I felt a calling into ministry and didn’t know what to make of it. He suggested that I would stay and see this calling out in Abilene, which lead me to be very involved at the church specifically in the college and worship ministries.
In the summer of 2021, the worship pastor at “The Well” gave me the opportunity to be on the worship team playing drums and keys at multiple summer camps. During camp, I grew and learned so much about worship ministry. It was during camp this summer that knew I wanted to pursue worship ministry.
I got connected with the leaders at Redeemer Round Rock(near Austin TX) this past fall and discussed the possibility of coming to be the ministry resident with a focus on worship. At Redeemer, I will be helping the Pastor of Worship and Arts in training, equipping, and scheduling teams for Sunday services. God has truly been moving and working in my life, and now my residency in Round Rock starts May 1st!
