Silas Smith
Summer staff LIFEGUARD AND MEDIA COORDINATOR at camp crosspoint
God has opened the door for me to be on mission this summer through serving on staff at a summer camp. I have taken the position of Lifeguard and Media Coordinator at Camp Crosspoint in Pelham, Ga. I will be working with children and youth all summer, sharing with them the love of Jesus, and protecting them from the dangers of the pool and beautiful lake waters. The summer will consist of a training week for Summer Staff, a training week for Counselor Training, and then six weeks to follow of back-to-back weeks full of campers and fun.
With that said, I will be looking to raise $2,200 to cover my salary for the summer, and would love for you to support me as I serve.
As a Lifeguard, I will first help train the summer staff in CPR and help them understand the ins and outs of saving a child from the water. I will also lead the campers in a swim test at the beginning of the week that will allow me to see the different swimming skills I have to watch out for. Depending on their ability to swim, determines the colored bracelet the camper will receive on their wrist for the rest of their summer camp week. This is not to discriminate between students, but to allow me to know who needs to swim with a buddy and who is just fine on their own.
My primary responsibility is to coordinate social media platforms from camp to keep the community informed and excited about camp. This job also requires me to make sure each worship service is ready to go on time. I am in charge of all sound, and presentation tools in the chapel. Even though this task requires me to be very busy, it is highly vital in the process of running camp smoothly and efficiently in order to benefit each kid by having an amazing camp experience and an even greater experience with God.
