Missionaries serving with table Japan
We have had a heart for Japan since our first mission trip there in the summer of 2019. After returning home from that trip, we have always entertained the idea of moving to Japan as missionaries, but the timing never seemed to stick. In the summer of 2021, we took the idea more seriously when God provided a clear direction. It wasn't until August 2023 that we would be living out their calling as missionaries in Japan. The typical question we receive is, why Japan?
While Japan isn't financially impoverished, they are indeed spiritually poor. Less than 1% of Japanese people are followers of Jesus. They are the second-largest unreached people group in the world. Daily, Japanese people face intense work and social pressure, which has led to depression, isolation, and even death. This pressure isn't age-specific either – one in two young people claim that they experience suicidal thoughts. Additionally, in 2023, the Japanese government raised the age of consent from 13 years old to 16. While we can consider this increase in age a positive from the previous, there is still a generation of adults who have preyed on young children and teenagers and continue to do so.
With the knowledge that Japan desperately needs Jesus – we started Table. We desire to see Japan's statistics turn from 99% not knowing Jesus as their Lord and Savior to 99% walking daily with Him. We know first-hand the power of His love and believe that everyone deserves an invitation to His Table. Through His model, we hope to see His Table filled in Japan.
We married in Memphis in December 2020 and welcomed the best surprise of our lives in January 2023 – our son, Judah.
Please consider joining our Table and help us experience radical life change in Japan.
